Hamilton’s Sport Legends Honoured at Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Hall of Fame also announces launch of The Pathfinders Project Education Program
The Class of 2012 was honoured tonight at the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, held at Carmen’s Banquet Centre. Over 400 attendees enjoyed a celebratory video montage of each inductee, and listened as Soccer Legend John McGrane represented the Class as Valedictorian with a theme of overcoming challenges and adversity to reach one’s goals, and the community of Hamilton’s history of embracing individuals and teams who require support.
Hall of Fame Chairperson Brian Lewis, along with 4 students from local elementary schools also introduced its significant Pathfinders Project in partnership with area school boards. The Pathfinders Project Education Program led by Board Member Cecelia Carter-Smith will work to ensure that local students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 will be offered an opportunity to learn more about Hamilton’s sport history across several educational disciplines. Pilot projects will commence in 2013, with a comprehensive plan being initiated in 2014.
