Dr. David Levy has maintained a first-class sports medicine practice in Hamilton for 30 years.
Dr. Levy has been team physician for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League for 35 years and the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League since their inception. He has been team physician to his alma mater, McMaster University and Mohawk College varsity teams for over 30 years as well as being on the medical staff of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Many club and high school athletes across the city have also benefited from his care, as have uncountable numbers of everyday athletes.
Dr. Levy has helped people of all ages and talent levels realize goals, return to sport, and achieve excellence.
What sets him apart is his commitment to his work and his passion for helping athletes of every level while giving his time tirelessly and taking genuine interest in his patients recovery.
Dr. Levy trains interns and residents and shares with them his passion for sports and for medicine.
For 12 years he’s been team physician to Hamilton’s Breast Cancer Dragonboat team ‘Knot A Breast.’
Dr. Levy has been a chair of the OMA Section on Sport Medicine and has been on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine, is on the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Sport and Musculoskeletal Phyisicans Group and is the chair of the Program Advisory Committee for the Sheridan College Athletic Therapy program.
He is heavily involved in the education of medical students, and of residents in Family Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Emergency Medicine and he started and is the Co-Director of McMaster’s Primary Care Sport Medicine Fellowship Program.
Dr. Levy is an icon in sport medicine in our community.
