‘Mr. Versatility.’ That’s what Garney was during his stellar career from 1960-75 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. A nine time All-Canadian defensive back, he was also an All-Canadian wide receiver in 1972, when he was named the Most Outstanding Player in the CFL. He intercepted 59 passes, five of which he returned for touchdowns. He is also one of the few players to catch four TD passes in a game. He played in seven Grey Cup games, winning four times. A Canadian Football Hall of Fame member, Garney is also enshrined in the NAIA Hall of Fame, the University of Guelph Hall of
Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He was named to the Tiger-Cats’ Best of the Century Team.
