One of the greatest players in Canadian Football League history Angelo is a legend for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and as the professional wrestler in the WWF and the NWA. He attended the University of Notre Dame and was drafted by the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, but chose to play instead for the Tiger-Cats in 1958. He was traded to Ottawa in 1960 and played for two seasons with the Rough Riders, before joining Montreal for five games in 1962. He finished that campaign in Hamilton and remained with the Cats until the Grey Cup Championship year of 1972. ‘Big Ang’ played in 9 Grey Cup games, winning one with Ottawa and four with Hamilton. A five time Eastern All-Star and two time All-Canadian Angelo was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1987 and was a member of the 1967 Grey Cup champion Tiger-Cats who were elected to the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame as a team in 2010.
