Less Browne holds the Canadian Football League record for most career interceptions with 87, and the all-time professional football record for interception return yards with 1,508. He played 12 seasons in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1984–1988), Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1989–1991), Ottawa Rough Riders, and BC Lions, and was part of three Grey Cup championship teams (1986, 1990, 1994).
Browne was a six-time CFL All-Star and was selected to the CFL All-Decade Team of the 1980s. During his standout season in 1990 with Winnipeg, he recorded 14 interceptions in a single season, one of the highest single-season totals in league history. His 12 career playoff interceptions are also among the CFL’s all-time best. Browne was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2002 and was named one of the Top 50 CFL Players of the Modern Era by TSN in 2006.
