Norm Marshall was a true legend in sports and news broadcasting for 55 years. He and Larry O’Brien were commentators on the first telecast of a Grey Cup football game, in 1955 on CBLT Toronto. Marshall would go on to be the voice of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for 26 years. He was working for CHML Radio when CHCH-TV started up, in 1954. He became a news and sports anchor with the station and won the Fred Sgambati Media Award for his coverage of university sports. Many will remember Marshall as the play-by-play announcer the Hamilton Tiger Cubs, later known as the Red Wings. He was an icon in the community of Hamilton for more than a half century.
