Foxy, as his many friends call him, was the first Canadian basketball referee in the NCAA. He officiated games in more than 30 countries over 35 years, including the gold medal game in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. A member of the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame, the Burlington Sports Hall of Fame and the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction, he was involved in the ownership of the Hamilton Skyhawks and the Hamilton Bulldogs and has been a highly influential member of numerous boards and committees for sport, education and charities. Ron invented the world renowned Fox 40 pea-less whistle, which is used, not only by many sports leagues, but by rescue professionals in major catastrophes.
